About

The company behind the protocol

Blocksquare builds the infrastructure. Oceanpoint sets it free.

Who we are

Oceanpoint is developed by Blocksquare d.o.o., a company headquartered in Ljubljana, Slovenia, founded by Denis Petrovčič (CEO) and Viktor Brajak (CTO). Blocksquare's signature line says it plainly: tokenization infrastructure for the real estate industry.

Blocksquare builds the rails: audited smart contracts for issuing property tokens and white-label marketplace software used by Certified Partners around the world. Oceanpoint is the DeFi protocol built on those rails: the liquidity engine that connects tokenized properties to staking, liquidity, and community governance.

Company vs protocol

Blocksquare: the infrastructure company. Property tokenization (BSPTs), white-label marketplaces, compliance tooling. blocksquare.io

Oceanpoint: the open protocol. Staking pools, the upcoming POINT liquidity layer, and DAO governance, running as smart contracts on Ethereum. app.oceanpoint.fi

The relationship is deliberate: Blocksquare the company ships software; Oceanpoint the protocol is open-source, on-chain, and on a roadmap toward full community governance.

Milestones

  • 2018: BST (Blocksquare Token) deployed on Ethereum: 100,000,000 total supply, still the ecosystem's governance and utility token today.
  • February 2022: Oceanpoint v0.1 launches with the first governance pool: stake BST, receive sBST.
  • 2022–2024: Asset pools open real estate staking; liquidity pools bootstrap BST:ETH depth; the Community BSPT pool powers the DAO's buyback & burn.
  • 2024: Oceanpoint v0.5 adds Marketplace Pools: the community crowdfunds white-label marketplace licenses for Certified Partners through the Launchpad.
  • April 2025: The Oceanpoint Protocol whitepaper (Petrovčič & Kaines) sets out the next chapter: POINT, a liquidity aggregator token for tokenized real estate, rolling out in phases.

Governance

Oceanpoint is governed by its community. sBST holders vote on Oceanpoint Improvement Proposals (OIPs) via Snapshot, and a six-member governance board (two founders, two advisors, two community representatives) executes decisions through a multisig. The decentralization plan expands community control over time, with the board dissolving into fully on-chain governance.
