Frequently asked questions
Oceanpoint FAQ
What is Oceanpoint?
Oceanpoint is the liquidity engine for tokenized real estate, Blocksquare's core DeFi protocol. It is a set of smart contracts on Ethereum, forming an open-end DAO, that connects tokenized properties to staking, liquidity, and governance.
Blocksquare provides the tokenization infrastructure and white-label marketplace software underneath; Oceanpoint is the protocol layer that ties the ecosystem together.
What is a property token (BSPT)?
A BSPT (Blocksquare Property Token) is an ERC-20 token representing fractional ownership in a specific real property, issued through Blocksquare's tokenization infrastructure. Each property is divided into up to 100,000 tokens, and holding them makes you eligible for rental income distributions from that property.
You can buy BSPTs on the Oceanpoint Marketplace or any partner marketplace. See Trade for a walkthrough.
What is BST?
BST (Blocksquare Token) is the governance and utility token of the Blocksquare ecosystem, an ERC-20 deployed on Ethereum in 2018 with a total supply of 100,000,000 BST. It rewards ecosystem participants and, when staked, grants governance power.

See BST for the full picture: what it is used for, live supply and staking figures, and where to buy it.
Where can I buy BST?
BST trades on centralized exchanges (Gate.io, BitMart, MEXC), decentralized venues (Uniswap, 1inch, Matcha) and brokers (Stormrake in AUD, Coinmetro in EUR). The BST page lists every venue with its trading pair and a direct link.
Always check the token against the official contract before swapping — BST is an ERC-20 on Ethereum mainnet only.

What is sBST?
sBST is what you receive when you stake BST in Oceanpoint's main governance pool. It represents your share of the pool, accrues protocol rewards, and carries voting power over Oceanpoint Improvement Proposals (OIPs). Return sBST to withdraw your underlying BST.
There is a 48-hour lock after depositing; beyond gas there are no deposit or withdrawal fees. See Earn for every strategy, or BST for the staking flow in detail.
What is POINT, and is it a stablecoin?
POINT is an upcoming liquidity aggregator token with flatcoin-like qualities. It is not a stablecoin. POINT will have unlimited supply and will only be minted and burned through the protocol: liquidity providers will mint it with USDC at an initial reference ratio of one POINT per US dollar deposited, and its market price can differ. At launch, the protocol treasury will hold stablecoin reserves and eligible property tokens (BSPTs).
POINT has not launched yet. Later phases add advanced risk management and lending. How liquidity providers take part at launch is set out on the liquidity providers page; the whitepaper covers the protocol design.
How do I earn on Oceanpoint?
Three ways:
- Hold BSPTs to collect rental income distributions from the property.
- Stake BSPTs to convert that income stream into BST rewards.
- Stake BST to receive sBST, which accrues protocol rewards and voting power. Liquidity providers can also stake BST:ETH LP tokens.
All yields are variable and set by protocol activity and governance. Oceanpoint does not promise fixed APYs. See Earn.
Do I need KYC?
Buying and holding BSPTs requires an account and KYC verification on a marketplace, and some countries are not supported. Staking BST and participating in DAO governance does not require KYC.
Which blockchain does Oceanpoint run on?
Oceanpoint's smart contracts are deployed on the Ethereum mainnet. BST, sBST, and BSPTs are all ERC-20 tokens.
How does governance work?
Stake BST to receive sBST, then vote on Oceanpoint Improvement Proposals (OIPs) on Snapshot. A six-member governance board (founders, advisors, and community representatives) executes decisions via multisig, with a roadmap toward fully on-chain governance.
Who is behind Oceanpoint?
Oceanpoint was developed by Blocksquare d.o.o., a company based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, that builds tokenization infrastructure for the real estate industry. The protocol itself is open-source software governed by its community.
More on the company and its history on the About page.
How do I become an ambassador?
Apply through the Advocate page. Ambassadors organize into Regional Hubs; each active hub earns a share of a quarterly BST pool (4,000 BST per participating member, up to 20,000 per hub), split by contribution points for events, referrals, KYC-verified onboarding and tokenized properties.
