The voting process

How sBST holders vote on Oceanpoint Improvement Proposals (OIPs) on Snapshot.

Who can vote

Every sBST token can vote. You get sBST by depositing BST in the governance pool; return the sBST to withdraw your BST.

Votes are weighted by balance: 1 sBST = 1 vote. Snapshot reads sBST balances at a fixed block set when the proposal is created, so tokens acquired after that block do not count for that vote.

What OIPs are for

OIPs cover the BST staking pools on Oceanpoint and the protocol parameters around them, for example how BST rewards are directed between the pools. They do not cover Oceanpoint S.à r.l.'s corporate decisions, and BST holders do not share the company's fees.

Adding a property to Oceanpoint is not an OIP. Property owners apply at /tokenize and the Oceanpoint listing team reviews the application.

Signal voting on Snapshot

All votes today are off-chain signal votes on Snapshot. Voting costs no gas. The outcome is carried out in good faith by the governance board through its multisig; votes do not execute code on their own.

On the Snapshot space as of November 2026:

  • Creating a proposal requires at least 10,000 voting power, in practice 10,000 sBST.
  • Voting power comes from your sBST balance. The space also counts the board multisig's owners through a second strategy.
  • Quorum and voting period are not fixed at the space level. Each proposal states its own on Snapshot, so check the proposal before you vote.

There is no on-chain voting yet. Moving to on-chain governance is on the roadmap with no date; see the Decentralization plan.
