Governance
Introduction
Governance of the Oceanpoint pools has two parts: voting on Snapshot and execution by the governance board.
- Voting. BST holders stake BST in the governance pool (OceanStaking) and receive sBST. sBST holders vote on governance-pool and protocol proposals on Snapshot. Snapshot votes are off-chain signals.
- Execution. The governance board executes decisions through a 4-of-6 Safe multisig (
0xfb531d5602fc0953be047605c77a7d289729ea8a). There is no on-chain proposal execution.
BST governance covers the pools. It does not govern Oceanpoint S.à r.l. The planned POINT contracts use role-based access control (OceanpointAccessManager), not BST voting.
BST
BST is an ERC-20 token, Blocksquare's protocol token, with a fixed supply of 100,000,000. Holding BST alone gives no vote: stake it in the governance pool to receive sBST.
sBST
sBST is an ERC-20 token representing a holder's share of the BST in the governance pool. The sBST-to-BST exchange rate is dynamic because rewards accrue in the pool.
