POINT and the liquidity engine

The liquidity engine for tokenized real estate and its POINT token: what is built, what is planned.

Status: POINT is planned and has not been issued. The liquidity engine contracts for Phases I and II are built and audited by Hacken, and are not live on mainnet. A crypto-asset white paper will be published before any offer of POINT, and it takes precedence over this page.

What the liquidity engine is

Property tokens (BSPTs) are fragmented. Each property has its own token with a small market cap, trading volumes are low, spreads are wide, and DeFi protocols cannot easily integrate many small, illiquid assets.

The liquidity engine is Oceanpoint's answer: a single liquidity layer for tokenized real estate, built around the POINT token. Today, property tokens trade on the Oceanpoint marketplace; the liquidity engine is the next step.

What POINT is

  • A crypto-asset on Ethereum (ERC-20), offered by Oceanpoint S.à r.l. (currently registered as Blocksquare S.à r.l.).
  • Free-floating: its price is set by the market and can rise or fall, including to zero.
  • Freely transferable. Holders may hold, transfer and use POINT for any lawful purpose.
  • Oceanpoint plans to pay POINT when it acquires USDC, EURC or ETH for its own account.

What POINT is not

  • Not a stablecoin. It has no fixed or supported value and no stabilization mechanism.
  • No right or claim against Oceanpoint or anyone else, including no right to be exchanged back.
  • Not linked to any property. It references no asset or currency.
  • Not BST. BST is Blocksquare's protocol token. See BST.
  • Not issued yet.

The whitepaper (rev3, April 2025) describes an earlier POINT design, minted against stablecoin and BSPT deposits and backed by a treasury. The design has since been updated for the EU's MiCA regulation as described above. The whitepaper page notes where the two differ.

Roadmap

The liquidity engine rolls out in four phases.

  1. Phase IBootstrapping liquidityMint/burn logic between POINT and deposited DAI, USDC or USDT, plus an AMM pool for POINT.
    • Built and audited; POINT not yet issued
  2. Phase IIBSPT integrationSwap property tokens into POINT and back, balanced by the Dynamic Rate System and Target Portfolio Composition.
    • Built and audited; not yet live
  3. Phase IIIAdvanced risk managementDynamic spread controls and the POINT Zero stability backstop.
    • Planned
  4. Phase IVBSPT lendingBSPTs as collateral for borrowing: real estate-backed credit markets on the liquidity engine.
    • Planned

The contract addresses will be published on Smart contracts once they are deployed.

Liquidity providers

Ahead of launch, Oceanpoint is speaking with larger liquidity providers, confidentially and one to one, about how they could take part from day one. There are two routes:

  • DeFi route (stablecoins and digital assets): Oceanpoint plans to acquire USDC, EURC and ETH for POINT, and to run a liquidity reward programme for providers who lock full-range positions on a third-party venue. Programme design, venue and lock periods are shared in the LP area.
  • TradFi route (fiat capital): a route through a regulated fund vehicle is planned for Q2 2027, for providers who cannot or prefer not to hold digital assets directly.

What replaced stable pools

Earlier versions of these docs described "stable pools" and POINT as the protocol's native stablecoin. Stable pools never launched, and POINT is no longer designed as a stablecoin. The POINT liquidity engine and the liquidity-provider programme above replace them.
