Marketplace pools
Marketplace pools let participants who stake BST in the Main pool (sBST) support new Certified Partners launching a tokenized real estate marketplace on Blocksquare's infrastructure. Fifteen marketplace pools have been launched on Ethereum mainnet, the first in June 2024 and the most recent in February 2026.
Background
Marketplaces run by third parties, called Certified Partners (CPs), are at the core of the Blocksquare ecosystem. Launching and operating a branded marketplace lets a company grow a real estate tokenization business, connecting investors with real estate opportunities in its region.
Certified Partners use Blocksquare's tokenization infrastructure under a software license from Blocksquare. Licensing and pricing are Blocksquare's offer, not Oceanpoint's.
Marketplace operators who stake BST unlock discounts on Blocksquare's tokenization infrastructure, up to the full licensing fee.
Understanding marketplace pools
Marketplace pools give both marketplace operators (CPs) and community members (sBST holders) a way to take part in launching new marketplaces. sBST holders choose which new operators to back, and operators gain visible community support for their launch.
Pool Mechanics
A. For Marketplace Operators
If you plan to launch a tokenized real estate marketplace on Blocksquare's infrastructure, you can present it to the BST community. If the community sees potential in your business, its members can support you by pledging sBST to your marketplace pool.
Here's the process:
- Apply & get in touch: contact the Blocksquare team to apply.
- Raise community support: share your marketplace concept with the community, set clear KPIs you plan to achieve, and set out an execution timeline.
- Initiate your pool: once approved, you start your marketplace pool by depositing between 500 and 99,000 sBST as collateral and setting the pool's lock period (between 90 and 365 days). Blocksquare then configures the campaign: its start date, its length (5 to 30 days) and the initial maximum pledge per wallet.
- Launch campaign: during the campaign, the community pledges sBST to your pool until it reaches the target of 100,000 sBST, your collateral included.
B. For community members (sBST holders)
As an sBST holder, you can back the marketplace pools you believe will succeed.
Here's how you can participate:
- Explore opportunities: browse the marketplace pools in the dApp at app.oceanpoint.fi.
- Pledge sBST: pledge sBST to a pool during its campaign.
- Earn rewards: once the pool is filled, it receives BST rewards, shared among the community members who pledged.
Marketplace pools compete for BST rewards, so choose carefully which projects you support. Current pool yields are on /stats.
Key Features
- Capped pools: each pool holds at most 100,000 sBST, the operator's collateral included. During a campaign, the amount each wallet can pledge is capped at first and the cap rises until the campaign's midpoint (see Detailed functionalities).
- Rewards eligibility: only pools that reached 100,000 sBST during their campaign can receive BST rewards.
- Rewards distribution: marketplace pools compete for a share of rewards. Within a pool, rewards go to the community members in proportion to their pledges.
- Withdrawal locks: each marketplace pool has two lock periods, one for community pledges and one for the operator's collateral:
- Community lock: starts when the pool reaches 100,000 sBST and lasts for the pool's lock period, which the operator sets between 90 and 365 days. The live pools use about six months.
- CP lock: the operator's collateral stays locked for twice the community lock period, from the same starting point. This reflects the operator's higher commitment to the pool.
- Failed campaigns: if a campaign ends without filling the pool, community members and the operator can withdraw their sBST shortly after the campaign ends.
FAQ
How can my company apply to launch a marketplace pool?
Get in touch with the Blocksquare team at future@blocksquare.io and mention that you would like to launch your marketplace with a marketplace pool on Oceanpoint.
Can any company apply?
Companies apply to Blocksquare, and the Blocksquare team assesses each marketplace project. Terms, including the collateral and the KPI structure, are discussed individually with every project during the selection process.
What can projects do in preparation of their launch campaign?
Presenting your marketplace to the community usually means writing blog posts and articles, growing your own community on social media, and creating content (visuals and video) so BST holders can get to know your team and your go-to-market strategy.
How is a marketplace pool APY calculated?
Each marketplace pool earns a different APY, depending on the BST rewards directed to it. Only sBST pledged by community members earns marketplace-pool rewards. The operator's collateral does not, but because it is held in sBST it still grows with the main pool's rewards. Current yields are on /stats.
What happens after the community lock period ends?
After the community lock period ends, you can keep your sBST in the pool or withdraw it, together with your unclaimed rewards, to stop supporting the marketplace operator.
What happens after the CP lock period ends?
At the end of the CP lock period, the operator's performance is evaluated against its declared KPIs. The pool's owner, the governance multisig, then either releases the collateral so the operator can withdraw it, extends the operator's lock, or liquidates the collateral.
