About pool mechanics

How the staking pools in the Oceanpoint dApp work and how BST rewards are allocated to them.

The Oceanpoint dApp at app.oceanpoint.fi hosts the staking pools of the Blocksquare ecosystem. You deposit from your own wallet, earn rewards in BST, Blocksquare's protocol token, and withdraw back to your wallet once the pool's lock period has passed. The first pool, the main governance pool, went live in February 2022; asset pools and liquidity pools followed between 2022 and 2024.

The pool contracts were audited by Hacken in 2022 and 2023.

See audit reports here

The pools fall into three groups:

  • Governance pools
  • Asset pools: stake property tokens (BSPTs).
    • Issuer: 6-month lock.
    • Community: 30-day lock.
    • RWA Technology and Landhive: 2-day lock each.
  • Liquidity pools: stake BST:ETH liquidity provider tokens. Staking for Uniswap V4 positions is built but not yet live.

The stable pools once planned for the protocol were never launched. POINT and the liquidity engine that replace them are described in POINT and the liquidity engine.

Rewards allocation and schedule

Rewards are paid in BST from protocol emissions. Oceanpoint directs a share of these emissions to each pool, and within a pool your rewards follow your share of the pool. There is no fixed monthly amount or fixed split between pool groups: the allocation is set through governance and changes over time.

For the current rewards, yields (APY) and amounts staked in each pool, see the live figures at /stats. They are read from the chain.
