Organizing events (Eventbrite)
Regional Hub events are published centrally, on Blocksquare's Eventbrite organizer profile and on the oceanpoint.fi events page. Hubs don't need their own Eventbrite account: the Regional Chair submits the event in the ambassador dashboard, and the Blocksquare program team reviews and publishes it.
Publishing centrally gives one record of who registers for and attends hub events, and lets check-ins count toward the hub's points.
Eventbrite gives the program team a complete record of registered participants and check-ins at every event.
Here's how it works:
1. Create the event in the dashboard
In the Events section of the ambassador dashboard, the hub chair creates the event: title, format (short, half-day or full-day), in person or online, date, city and venue (or the platform for online events), a short description, and where it should be published.
Keep the description factual: no price talk and no return promises. The code of conduct applies to event pages too.
All events hosted by Regional Hubs, whatever their size, must go through this process to count toward the hub's points.
2. Review by the program team
The program team reviews every event before it goes live, usually within 2 business days.
3. Publishing
Once approved, the event is published under Blocksquare's profiles on Eventbrite and oceanpoint.fi.
4. Registrations and check-ins
Registrations sync from Eventbrite into the dashboard. Check-ins are recorded at the event. For online events, attendance counts from registrations and live joins.
5. Points
After the event, the program team verifies the numbers and credits the points to the hub: the format points plus 0.1 point per registration and 1 point per check-in. See The scoring system.
Already created an event on Eventbrite yourself? You can import it from the Events section of the dashboard by pasting its URL, and it goes to the program team for review.
Running events through the dashboard keeps them consistent, gives the program team the data it needs, and makes sure each event counts toward the hub's score.
Paid ticket events
For hub events that sell tickets, the money from ticket sales is first collected into Blocksquare's bank account. After the event, the funds are transferred to the Regional Hub's wallet address in a stablecoin (USDC, USDT or DAI). This is because Eventbrite allows only one set of bank details per account.
Blocksquare decides which stablecoin to use for the transfer.
Here's how the process works:
Ticket sales and revenue collection
When a Regional Hub organizes an event with ticket sales, all ticket revenue is collected into Blocksquare's bank account.
Post-event fund transfer
Once the event is over, the sales amount is converted into the selected stablecoin and transferred to the hub's registered wallet.
Ticket proceeds are paid out net of VAT and payout fees.
Each Regional Hub therefore needs to register one hub wallet.
Transparency and ticket sales tracking
Regional Hubs can track the number of tickets sold for each of their events, so they can see how each event is performing.
