Quarterly BST allocations

The quarterly prize pool is made of BST, Blocksquare's protocol token. The ambassador program is run and funded by Blocksquare, which sets the allocation and pays the rewards.

Blocksquare adds 4,000 BST per member of each active Regional Hub to the quarterly pool, up to 20,000 BST per hub. The cap holds for any hub size: a full hub of five or more members adds 20,000 BST; an early hub of one to four members adds 4,000 BST per member. An active Regional Hub is a hub that earns at least one point during the quarter.

Example:

Three active hubs take part in a quarter: two full hubs and an early hub with two members. The pool for that quarter is 20,000 + 20,000 + 8,000 = 48,000 BST. The pool is then split between the three hubs according to their share of the quarter's points, as explained in The scoring system.

Within each hub, the BST is divided among the members by the Regional Chair. See BST rewards distribution.

Geographic density

To spread the network across regions rather than concentrate it, by default only one Regional Hub per region contributes to the quarterly pool. Any number of hubs can form in a region, and all of them compete for the pool, but only one adds BST to it. This encourages new ambassadors to join an existing hub in their region rather than start another.

A hub belongs to a region when 60% or more of its ambassadors are from that region. The size of a "region" depends on the area:

Area Region size Examples
Asia Country China, India, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines
Africa Country Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, Ghana, Morocco, Tanzania, Uganda, Algeria
Australia State New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania
Europe Country Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Slovenia
Middle East Country Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon
North America (excl. USA) Country Canada, Mexico, Nicaragua, Honduras, Cuba
South America Country Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela
USA State California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Georgia, North Carolina

Blocksquare can allow more contributing hubs in a region when there is clear evidence they are needed, or when the existing hub is inactive or mismanaged, and can make a region more granular as activity grows (for example, from country to city).

Changes to the quarterly BST allocation

Blocksquare may change the allocation per member as the program evolves. Any change is communicated before the start of the quarter it applies to.
